AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Writing

I came to know about AI only a year ago. Even though it’s been there from a long time in the form of Amazon Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana, Apple’s Siri, and Google Assistant.

Routing tasks like copywriting, creating captivating visuals can be done in minutes. But there are few things I believe AI can’t do. Like writing with actual emotions. I did a very basic research and saw that it randomly generates words and most of them are repeated.

Although you can differentiate and AI writing from the one written by human. Some people are letting it go because it appears to be creative. There are some days I do struggle with words to write. I thought of writing this article a week ago but something was blocking until I heard someone reciting AI poetry at an event.

It can be heartbreaking when you see writing and article or a poetry for weeks but still can’t end it. And it can be done in matter of time with the help of AI. For example, a regional poetry can be written with the help of AI but it lacks depth, emotions, and taking the listener or reader to another level.

An Urdu poetry is written in poetic meter (Bahr). It can be short, medium, or long. The rhythmic pattern of Sher or Gazal in known as Bahr (meter). In Hindi we call it chhand (meter), mukt chhand (free verse), etc. Similarly, in English we have free verse, acrostic, ballad, quatrain, cinquain, etc.

It not easy to find the words when you write the above form and when you add emotions it becomes a true poetry. Same goes when you are writing fiction or non-fiction.

I recently attended a session where you train AI models using human. The task was to come up with some random topic and talk for 8 hours straight. It uses voice modulation, emotions, etc. to train the robots.

Even there are Pros of AI like enhanced innovation and creativity, increased proficiency and productivity, there are cons too. Lack of resources, copyright infringement, privacy, and security threat of data is few of them.

As AI will continue to evolve in the future, it will shift to large scale models for experimentation heavily integrating into daily life, creative, and IT industry.
